FAQs BergWerk

The BergWerk is the university's own fitness center at the University of Wuppertal. It is operated by the BUW's UniSport. Students and employees of the BUW can purchase user authorizations.

The BergWerk is centrally located on the main campus Grifflenberg of the University of Wuppertal.

You can access the BergWerk fitness center via the K / I building core, directly opposite the Sport + Design cafeteria.

The BergWerk offer is aimed exclusively at BUW students and employees.

No, our start-up course picks you up exactly where you are right now.

Yes, because the start-up is about introducing the BergWerk and its possibilities. It is therefore the same as a trial training session.

You can currently train at BergWerk as often and as long as you like during opening hours without prior registration.

Please note the current corona conditions. Due to the dynamic changes, there may always be changes and, if necessary, prior registration procedures and time-limited training slots.

No. The SportsCard is for the UniSports courses.

You only need a FitnessCard to train at BergWerk.

However, you cannot take part in UniSport courses with the FitnessCard. The FitnessCard only entitles you to train at BergWerk.

There is a water dispenser in the BergWerk. You are welcome to use it. Please bring your own bottle. Of course you can also bring your own drink. Please note that glass bottles are prohibited in the BergWerk.

BergWerk's philosophy is to focus on the core of effective fitness training - the training itself. This requires suitable equipment and effective instruction. This is where we put our focus and our energy. Distractions from media such as TV and the like are not part of our philosophy.

As we find music and the right beat for training very motivating, music is played at BergWerk.

If necessary, bring your own music - the BergWerk has a good EDUROAM connection and all cardio machines have appropriate storage and a USB port. If you want to lock your smartphone away safely afterwards, there are safe deposit boxes available in the foyer area.

You are welcome to accept our offer, e.g. to optimize your training plan or for personal training, but you can also simply train on your own. At the beginning of your training, a start-up course is mandatory to get to know the studio and to familiarize yourself with the equipment.

Our tip: Behind every top athlete is a corresponding coach. So take a look around the BergWerk team to find the right coach for you and your training goals.
